Giving Old Electronics a New Life: Hi-P International Successfully Hosts“ E-Waste Recycling” Pop-up Event
As part of our commitment to sustainability and the circular economy, Hi-P International hosted an “E-Waste Recycling Program” Pop-up event on June 17 at the Qiantan office complex, following an invitation from the building management. The event encouraged the recycling of unused electronic devices and small household appliances, promoting a low-carbon lifestyle, circular lifestyle and attracting enthusiastic participation from employees and tenants across the building.
At the event, Hi-P International set up a dedicated e-waste collection booth became a major focus of attention in the lobby. To add a sense of meaningful ritual to environmental action, a “Recycle for a Green Plant” initiative was launched, encouraging participants to bring in unused items such as earphones, computer peripherals, electric toothbrushes and hair dryers for responsible recycling. The event was met with overwhelming enthusiasm, with a steady stream of visitors throughout the day and all giveaway plants were fully redeemed within a short time, showcasing the community's strong shared passion for a low-carbon lifestyle.
In total, approximately 100 electronic devices and small appliances were collected. Following the event, this batch of e-waste will be transferred to a licensed third-party professional agency for scientific sorting, dismantling, and environmentally responsible treatment. Recyclable materials ,such as metals and plastics will be recovered and returned to the production cycle to maximize resource value.Meanwhile, components containing specific or potentially hazardous substances will be managed strictly in accordance with national environmental regulations to completely eliminate potential contamination of soil and water resources.
As one of the fastest-growing solid waste streams globally,E-waste holds immense potential for resource circularity. Responsible recycling and resource recovery are not only essential to reducing resource waste, but also serve as key drivers for reducing pollution, cutting carbon emissions, and advancing the circular economy.
Notably, the unique creativity and environmental significance of the event also attracted media attention and was featured on-site by Shanghai Pudong Television. During the interview, representatives from Hi-P International shared the company’s achievements and practices in green development, resource circularity, and employee engagement, further demonstrating Hi-P’s firm commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development.
